Statistics from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, better known as NOAA, show there’s been only two hurricane seasons on record with no storms becoming strong enough to reach hurricane status. That happened in 1907 and again in 1914, according to NOAA data.

The Atlantic hurricane basin reached the official peak of its season on Sept. 10 without generating a single hurricane, putting the region on track for one of its quietest years on record. Forecasters at AccuWeather report a low probability of any hurricane forming before the end of the month.
